TAKE CARE OF TEXAS PARTNERS

Featured Partner — THE HOME DEPOT

The Home Depot partnered with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to host an Earth Day consumer-education event on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 16 Home Depot stores across Texas.

  • Over 280 participants learned tips to help save money, water, and energy, and learned how to build a rain barrel for use at home.
  • More than 40 participants built their own rain barrels to take home.
  • FREE Take Care of Texas reusable bags, faucet aerators, and compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs were given out to participants at the event.

Other The Home Depot programs that help the environment are:

  • Eco Options: The Eco Options brand makes it easy to identify products that make a difference, one choice at a time. Every product with the Eco Options label has less of an impact on the environment than competing products. Specifically, Eco Options products contribute to one or more of these environmental benefits: sustainable forestry, energy efficiency, healthy homes, clean air, and water conservation. • CFL Bulb Recycling Program: Nationwide, all The Home Depot stores offer free in-store collections for recycling CFL bulbs. Just bring in any expired, unbroken CFL in a plastic bag and deposit it into one of the bright orange collection units in any Home Depot store.
